Services will be at 10:30 A.M. on Friday, December 31, 2004 at the First Baptist Church of Happy with Rev. Paul Burwash, pastor, officiating. She will lie in state at Happy"s Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas. Zelma Lonas Fortenberry Wright was born on August 3, 1914 in Leo, Texas to Oliver and Callie Fortenberry. She grew up on the farm east of Happy along with six brothers and sisters. She graduated from Happy High School in 1932 and West Texas Normal College in 1936. She taught school in Chalk, Texas and Happy until she retired in 1980. She married S. N. "Moon" Wright on August 17, 1947 in Clovis, NM. He preceded her in death in 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Ed and Joe Fortenberry of Amarillo, and Paul Fortenberry, of Friona, and three sisters, Faye Hargrove and Gladys Daugherty, both of California, and Fern Spear, of Happy. Survivors include two sons, Ed Wright, and wife, Patricia, of Amarillo, and Terry Wright, of Amarillo; one daughter, Sue Sims, and husband, Randy, of Sunray; five grandchildren, Vint Wright, of Tampa, FL, Ken Magness, of Lubbock, Teresa Desantis, of Amarillo, and Ross and Callie Sims, of Sunray; six great grandchildren; Sister-in-law, Bobbie Fortenberry; and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the Happy Cemetery Association, Happy, Texas 79042, or to your favorite charity.
