Zelma Thomas

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2015 at Brooks Chapel with Dr. Paul Richardson, pastor of Rockwell Road Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Odessa, TX. Zelma Thomas was born on October 18, 1926 in Paducah, Texas to Robert and Lillie Martin Campbell. She was a graduate of Amherst High School. She married J. M. Thomas on December 21, 1944 in Littlefield, and he preceded her in death in 1975. Zelma worked in many different areas. She was a cosmetologist, baked and decorated cakes for the public, and worked in the cafeteria at Odessa Jr. High School. She enjoyed baking, crocheting, sewing, and gardening and was a member of Rockwell Road Baptist Church in Canyon. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Nora, in 1949, two brothers, and two sisters. Survivors include her son, Prentice Thomas and wife, Marilyn, of Canyon; two grandchildren, Shawn Thomas and wife, Tara, of Canyon, and Heather Wood and husband, Clint, of Pampa; four great grandchildren, Matthew and Carson Thomas and Aubray and Trace Thomas; and one great granddaughter, Ava Thomas.
