Zelma Selvidge

Services will be on Saturday, April 17th at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church, Happy with the Rev. Bob Miller, officiating pastor. Burial will be held in the Happy Cemetery. Viewing will be in Happy's Memorial Chapel Friday, April 16th, from 9:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, April 17th, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 16th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Zelma was born November 28, 1913, in New Castle, OK and lived her early years in Blanchard. She later moved to the Texas Panhandle, settling in Happy where she attended school, married ""Bud"" Selvidge, and raised their three children. During this time she served in the First Baptist Church of Happy in Girl's Auxiliary, Sunday School and WMU. She was an artist and owned her own business - Zelma's Art Studio. Zelma gave art lessons to young and old. Her paintings were displayed in Amarillo and Beaumont and sold throughout Texas. After her husband died, she lived by her daughter in Beaumont and Grapeland Texas for over 20 years. Zelma returned to Amarillo about six years ago. Zelma was preceded in death by her husband, William Harry (Bud) Selvidge; a sister, Ove Mae DePompa; a brother, Odie Reed; a twin sister, Thelma (Billie) Barrett; and a sister, Osie Scivally. She is survived by a daughter, Jean Wilkes and husband Carl of Grapeland, Texas; a son, Buddy Selvidge and wife Lawana of Canyon, Texas; and a son, Sharrell Selvidge and wife Nancy of Yuma, Colorado. Survivors also include her 10 grandchildren - LaVona Wilkes, Gene Wilkes, Brenda Johnson, Beverly Dillard, Barbara Mobley, Rhnea Cathey, Tisha Dougherty, Shannon Selvidge, Sonya Farris, Cary Selvidge; 20 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great- grandchildren.
