Wyatt Reese Golden

April 7, 2005 — October 19, 2025

Wyatt Reese Golden was born on April 7, 2005, to Megan and Jason Golden in Amarillo, Texas. He passed from this life into eternity with Jesus on October 19, 2025. He lived a short but wonderful 20 years and 6 months. Funeral services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at the University Church of Christ in Canyon with Steve McLean officiating. Burial will follow in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Monday, October 27, 2025, at the University Church of Christ. Wyatt attended Highland Park High School, where he graduated in 2023 in the top ten of his class. He was attending his junior year at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, where his plans were to earn his bachelor's degree in Natural Resource Management with an emphasis in Wildlife Biology. If you knew Wyatt, you knew this career goal fit him perfectly; he ultimately wanted to become a game warden. Wyatt lived his life to the fullest. He didn't just have interests, he had obsessions. When he became interested in a topic, he researched it endlessly and devoted himself to it. While his main love has always been animals and nature, his interests were wide-ranging. Around the age of four, Wyatt became completely obsessed with dinosaurs. He would drag out his dinosaur encyclopedia, find a willing soul to read to him, and correct the reader's mispronunciations of Quetzalcoatlus or Giganotosaurus. His obsessions morphed into motorcycles, Formula 1 racing, supercars, land mammals (particularly predators), sea animals (Mantis Shrimp were an all-time favorite, look them up; you won't be disappointed!), coral reefs, and freshwater fish such as Arapaima, Red-bellied Piranhas, Arowana, Parachromis dovii (also known as the Wolf Cichlid), Alligator Gar, and Red Devil Cichlids. His passion for fish led him to aquarium keeping—both freshwater and saltwater—which kept him busy around the clock. His room resembled a mad scientist's laboratory. Wyatt put his fish-keeping skills to work at Fish Pros in Amarillo, Texas, and American Aquatics in Lubbock, Texas, where his knowledge and enthusiasm for aquatic life made a lasting impression on everyone he worked with. All of these interests led to a variety of hobbies. Wyatt was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved to go on family trips to Colorado to ride four-wheelers through the mountains, fish in the lakes and rivers, and sit around the campfire at night. Wyatt professed his love for Christ at a young age through baptism. He knew Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. Wyatt is survived by his father, Jason Golden; his mother, Megan Golden; one brother, Jack Golden; two sisters, Rachel and Allie Golden; his beloved girlfriend, Sabrina Menendez; grandparents, Randy and Kim Golden and David and Kathy Driskill. He is also survived by many aunts and uncles: Kaci and Joel Himes, Betsi and Kemp Carter, Kolby and Hannah Golden, Kelby and Paige Golden, Sarah Stocker, Libby and Stoney McCarty, and Brec Brackett. Numerous cousins will miss Wyatt immensely.
