Wilma Jean Higginbotham, 81, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, October 5, 2024. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, October 11, 2024 at the First Baptist Church Chapel, Amarillo with Rev. Corky Holland officiating. Private burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 10, 2024 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.
Wilma was born on November 23, 1942 in Amarillo to Aubrey and Mildred (Lowery) Brazil. She married Shelby Higginbotham in Amarillo on June 22, 1958, and they enjoyed 66 wonderful years together. She was a bookkeeper for several companies, retiring from Kat Energy Services where they moved the office to her home. She was a member of Canyon Country Club where she and Shelby loved golfing. She also enjoyed traveling and crafting with her daughter and sisters.
Wilma is preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Phyllis Lowe.
Survivors include her husband, Shelby Higginbotham of Amarillo; her daughter, Shelly Groves and husband, Glenn of Amarillo; two sons, Billy Gene Higginbotham and wife, Julie of Celina, TX, and Phillip Higginbotham of Amarillo; two sisters, Patricia Mansfield and husband, Dwight of California and Paula Oliver and husband, Chuck of Amarillo; two nieces, Melissa Seymore and husband, Jeff of Waxahachie and Katie Oliver of Amarillo; two nephews, Dwight Mansfield and wife, Kathryn and Michael Mansfield and wife, Daiana all of California; niece, Stephanie Howe and husband, Jimmy J. of Colorado; three great nieces; six great nephews; and two great, great nieces.
