Willie Butler

Services will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, July 13 at the First Baptist Church of Happy with Dr. Richard Shaw, senior pastor of the First Baptist Church of Happy, and Travis LaDuke, officiating. Burial will follow at Happy Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12 at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Willie was a long time resident of Happy since 1949. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Butler in April 2013. She was born in Knoxville County, Mississippi where she was the youngest of 9 children. She married John Butler in November 1944. After World War II, they moved to Texas to farm. Willie was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy for over 60 years where she taught Sunday School for 40 years. She was a member of Eastern Star for over 60 years when she served as Worthy Matron of the Happy Chapter twice and also served as Grand Martha for the Grand Chapter of Texas from 1989-1990. Willie was an avid gardener. Her beautiful fall mums and flower beds were well known around the county and added delight to passers by on FM1075. She is survived by her two children, Andy Butler of Happy and Bobby Butler of Athens, GA, three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
