William Wilson

September 29, 1948 — December 6, 2019

William M. 'Mike' Wilson, 71, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2019.  Memorial services will be at 1:30 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at Freedom Fellowship Church with Pastor Darren Dye officiating.  Private burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 11, 2019 at Brooks Chapel. Mike was born on September 29, 1948 in Canyon to William Al 'Bill' Wilson and Ina Mae Judd Wilson.  He received his Bachelor's in Communication from West Texas State University where he was a member of the Alpha Sinfonia Choir.  Mike met Claudia Beets while they were both performing in the show TEXAS and they were married on May 15, 1971 at the First Baptist Church in Canyon. Mike grew up in the First Baptist Church of Canyon, served as a Deacon at the First Baptist Church of Lexington, and was a member of Freedom Fellowship Church in Canyon. He was a Certified Law Enforcement Officer and served as Park Manager for Texas Parks and Wildlife for over 25 years.  He and Claudia were both avid history buffs and thoroughly enjoyed fulltime RVing for 15 years, serving as park hosts in many states, some of their favorites being Alaska, Oregon, Goose Island State Park in Rockport, Kartchner Caverns in Arizona, and spent May and June of the last 10 years at Table Rock State Park in Branson, MO.  Mike also enjoyed fishing and loved spending time with his grandchildren.  He will be fondly remembered for his laugh, his singing voice, and his zest for life. Mike was preceded in death by his parents.  Survivors include his wife of over 48 years, Claudia Wilson of Canyon; daughter, Holly Wilson McCarley of Canyon; son, James Wesley Wilson of Muleshoe; two sisters, Judy Bea Wilson Prichard and Vesta Marie Wilson DeMoss and husband, Rodney Allen all of Canyon; three grandchildren, Kaitlyn McCarley, Trenton McCarley, and Ashton McCarley; and several nieces and nephews. Because Mike felt strongly about this mission, the family would love for memorials to go to Agape Missions, PO Box 1221, Canyon, Texas 79015, Memo: Dweyne Bevers Mexico Project.
