William Patton

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Monday, March 9 at the University Church of Christ with David Lough and Jim Shelburne, officiating. Private interment will be at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8 from 1:00 to 3:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Pat, as he was known to his friends, was born on April 19, 1922 to Ott and Tommie Patton in Miami, Texas. Pat married Annis Marie Miller on August 28, 1947 in Miami, Texas. Pat graduated from Miami High School. He was proud of his service to our great country in the United States Air Force during World War II. In 2008, Pat was honored to be on the first Freedom Flight to Washington, DC organized by America Supports You-Texas. In 2001, Pat was named Volunteer of the Year by the Canyon Chamber of Commerce. Pat grew up farming and ranching. He was always a farmer at heart. In 2001, Pat organized the Panhandle Antique Tractor Association. In 2012, Pat and Annis were made lifetime members of the Association. Pat was a dearly loved husband, father, and grandfather who had an extensive network of family and friends who all agree Pat's final prayer of "Heavenly Father, please take me home. I want to walk the streets of gold" was answered on Friday. Pat is survived by his beloved wife, Annis, of 67 years; 3 daughters, Janis Barnett and husband, Don, Debbie Kelly and husband, John, all of Amarillo, and Marsha Smith and husband, Denis, of Canyon; 5 grandchildren, Crystal Pillow and husband, Bryan, of Earth, TX, Brent McClain, of Amarillo, Billy Bob Barnett, of Canyon, Katie McClain of Chicago, IL, and Nicholas Smith and wife, Camill, of Canyon; 7 great grandchildren and 2 great, great granddaughters.
