Graveside services were held on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Dreamland Cemetery with Rev. Gene Jones, associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Canyon officiating. Memorial services will be at 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at the Shepherd of the Valley Presbyterian Church, 1801 Montano Road, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 87107. William A.(Bill) Long was born in Canyon, Texas on April 16, 1953 to Helen and W.O. Long. Although Bill did attend elementary school in Canyon, the family moved several times due to his father's career with the U.S Bureau of Interior, leading him to graduate from Austin E. Lathrop High School in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1970. He moved to Los Lunas in 1994 and resided there until his death on May 4, 2015. He was employed by Garcia Infiniti of Albuquerque as the manager of the service department. Bill moved with his parents from Fairbanks to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1972. As a young man he enjoyed motorcross, alpine skiing in Alaska and New Mexico, and family vacations of camping and fishing in many of the western states. He later became an avid and skilled fly fisherman and enjoyed fishing trips in New Mexico, as well as in Colorado and Alaska. He also enjoyed riding his quarterhorse, Junior. Bill is survived by his father, William O. Long of Canyon, Texas, his sister, Gail Humphries, of Weatherford, Texas, his nephew, Jon Berry, who is currently teaching in Suwon, South Korea, several cousins, and the host of friends he had made through the years of his life in New Mexico He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
