William "Bill" Hudson

June 11, 1949 — January 29, 2023

William (Bill) Hudson, 73, of Amarillo, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2023.

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 4, 2023 at Trinity Baptist Church, 1601 I-40, with Pastor Nate Magloughlin, officiating.

Bill was born on June 11, 1949 in Maldin, MA to William Henry Hudson and Amelia (Morlani) Hudson Clements. After graduating high school in 1967, Bill joined the U.S. Navy and served on active duty for 11 years in various locations including Italy, San Diego, and Diego Garcia. Bill married Lynn Perry on August 25, 1973 in Cambridge Springs, PA. After retirement from active duty, Bill and Lynn moved to Roswell, NM in 1978 where they raised their two daughters, Heather and Jill. Bill continued his military service in the Navy Reserve until his retirement in 1991. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration from Eastern New Mexico University Portales in 1986 and continued his federal service by beginning a second career as a civilian accountant.

While in New Mexico, Bill and family were members at Tabernacle Baptist Church where Bill served faithfully in the bus ministry and as a Sunday School teacher in the 4- & 5-year-old class. Bill's two lifelong priorities in ministry were children and Christian stewardship, especially regarding missions, and his service and commitments were strongly reflective of these passions. (Matthew 19:14 Suffer little children and forbid them not to come unto me).

In 2000, Bill and Lynn moved to Lincolnton, NC where Bill continued his work as a federal accountant eventually retiring in 2006. While in North Carolina, Bill and Lynn were active members of Boger City Baptist Church where Bill faithfully served in children's ministry and on the finance team.

In 2013, Bill and Lynn moved to Amarillo, TX where they have been faithful members of Trinity Baptist Church.

Bill and Lynn enjoyed hiking, backpacking, running, snow skiing, water skiing, kayaking and traveling, especially vacationing in Belize and Italy. He had a mischievous nature and was well known for his practical jokes among his family, friends, and colleagues. All told, Bill gave 38 years of service to his country both in the military and as a civilian, and he will be interred at a US National Cemetery.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Lynn Hudson; two daughters, Heather Hudson and Jill Jackson and husband, Matt; five grandchildren, Audrey Jackson, Judah Jackson, Corbin Jackson, Titus Jackson, and Eamonn Hudson MacCabe; one sister, Debra Davis and husband, Bob; niece, Joline Landers; step-sisters; Geneva West and husband Kevin, Lisa Donnley; step-father, Arlan 'Clem' Clements; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
