Services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 2, 2004 at the University Church of Christ in Canyon, with Bob Shepard, Elder and Bible Chair Director, and David Lough, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mr. Leavitt was born on July 24, 1918 in Randall County to James and Josephine Johnson Leavitt. He was a lifetime resident of Randall County. He farmed and ranched all of his life and was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in WWII. He was a member of the University Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Survivors include one brother, Melvin "Pete" Leavitt, of Happy; and one sister, Mabel Sims, of Happy. The family suggests memorials be to the High Plains Childrens Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, Texas 79114, or your favorite charity.
