Weldon Prichard, 85, passed away peacefully on February 15, 2025, in Amarillo, TX. Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, February 21, 2025 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Private interment will be in Dreamland Cemetery.
He was born on November 8, 1939, to Annie and Loyd Prichard, in Canyon, TX. He graduated from Canyon High School and earned a degree in accounting from West Texas State College before joining the Army, where he was stationed in Germany for two years. In 1966, he married Ann Yates in Perryton, TX., and together they built a life filled with love and adventure. He started his career as an accountant with the old Shamrock Oil and Gas Company and spent 32 years there through all the corporate changes, Diamond Shamrock, Maxus, and Midgard.
Weldon had a love of traveling, square dancing, genealogy, and trading stocks, but above all, he loved his family and friends. He loved his nieces and nephews and shared a special bond with his cherished dog, Lida. A devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, he never missed a game and enjoyed cheering on his team (winning or losing) with those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Annie and Loyd Prichard, as well as his siblings, Jo Ann Vandiver and Dwyane Prichard. He had a love and appreciation for his mother-in-law, Hallie, and his sister-in-law, Kristine, both of whom preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife Ann, a brother Ed of Houston, four nieces and three nephews.
Weldon will be remembered for his quick wit, sharp mind, and unwavering loyalty to his friends, family, and the Cowboys (even when they didn't deserve it). He will be deeply missed, but we take comfort knowing he's up there checking stock prices and arguing calls with the refs.
