Weldon Mckinney

Memorial services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Donna Johnston, pastoral care minister, officiating. Weldon T. McKinney was born February 19, 1934, in Childress, TX to Lawrence E. and Sedelle Nelson McKinney . He married Nancy Riley on December 23, 1954. She preceded him in death April 30, 1999. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in the Korean War. He was a volunteer with the Canyon Fire Department for 16 years and retired as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service in July of 1992. Weldon enjoyed fishing, hunting, and jeep rides with his sons and grandkids. Survivors include two sons, Joel McKinney, of Ingleside, and Terry McKinney and wife, Melanie, of Canyon; three grandchildren, Kyle McKinney and wife, Amanda, of Danville, VA, Kristin Simdorn and husband, Eric, of Canyon, and Andrew McKinney and fiance, Kristen Wilson, of Canyon; brother, Larry McKinney and wife, Betty, of Belen, NM; many special nieces and nephews; and he was expecting two great-grandsons. The family suggests memorials be to the Alzheimer's Association, 2200 W. 7th Amarillo, TX 79106, or to the patients of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, in care of Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation, 1600 Wallace Blvd. Amarillo, TX 79106.
