Wayne Poole, 86, of Canyon, passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2025. He was born on November 2, 1938 in Horatio, Arkansas to J.M. (Matt) and Maxine (Athey) Poole. He grew up in Nashville, AR and graduated from Nashville High School in 1956. While working for Texaco, he met Jeanette Tucker in Tulia and they were married on February 21, 1959 in Plainview. They enjoyed almost 66 wonderful years together.
Wayne loved the outdoors where he enjoyed fishing and camping. He was a lifetime golfer, scoring 5 hole-in-ones and he shot better than his age numerous times. He was also a fiercely avid Arkansas Razorbacks fan and was a volunteer Kids Inc. coach for many teams through the years.
One of Wayne's greatest accomplishments was the construction of a beautiful cabin in the mountains at Christmas Tree Canyon near Mora, NM. He constructed every square foot of this cabin himself with the help of brother-in-law, Tem and son-in-law, Chris. He detailed everything himself from the drilling of the well to the locks on the doors and everything in between. But the most important part of this happy place was the time spent with his family there. They will cherish so many precious memories.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Richard and Lyndon Poole, and two sisters, Wilma Thomas and Janice Hudspeth.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Poole; daughter, Lisa (Poole) Love and husband, Chris; son, Lance Poole and wife, Lorraine; brothers, Jay and Wes Poole; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
