Wade Elliott, 60, of Canyon, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2026. Memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at Crossroads Country Church in Amarillo, with Bob Miller, pastor, officiating.
Wade was born on December 1, 1965, in Canyon to Stanton and Linda (Franks) Elliott. He was a 1985 graduate of Canyon High School. Growing up Wade enjoyed many sports and was a talented gymnast. He was also very passionate about Auto Mechanics.
After high school, Wade joined his father as a third-generation farmer and cattleman. In 1989, he welcomed his pride and joy, Marshall Wade, into the world. He loved his son dearly, as well as his daughters, Becky and Kandis. He was very involved with all three of his children and supported them in everything they did.
Aside from working on the family farm, Wade also drove a truck named Lucy. He quickly became known on the road as “Hawkeye.” Wade loved his truck, and his grandsons came to share that love as well. His grandson Cap learned to drive it all by himself this summer at just 8 years old. Bodie could talk his PaPa into about anything with his favorite being a ride in the 4850 John Deere.
Wade also had a passion for cars. The most recent being his Dodge Challenger. Cap and Jaxon will never forget the rides in Papa’s car and its ability to ‘’peel out”, leaving black streaks on the pavement.
Wade had a natural talent for repairing anything. This would explain the excessive amount of parts/reuseable junk that he held onto. In a pinch though, it all came in handy. To some, he was referred to as the “Cat Doctor” as people in the area would call on him to fix Caterpillar engines. When Wade went to work on something, he was persistent that it was done right.
He was a great teacher not only to his son, daughters, and grandsons, but to anyone who wanted to learn. From riding a horse, changing the oil in your car, or rebuilding a motor Wade could it all. Most of which was done while listening to classic rock and drinking Dr Peppers.
Wade was always ready to help others, no matter their season of life or the path they were walking. With a kind heart and a nonjudgmental spirit, Wade was gentle, good-humored, and quick-witted, with a way of making those around him smile.
In 2023, he was baptized at his church and ever since had been deepening his relationship with the Lord. A faithful member of Crossroads Country Church, Wade dearly loved his church family. His family is eternally grateful for the relationships that were fostered there.
We all miss him dearly and will always remember his familiar goodbye: “Glad you got to see me!”
Wade was preceded in death by his parents.
Left to cherish his memory are his son, Marshall Elliott and wife Brenae of Boise City, OK, and their two sons, Cap and Bodie; two daughters, Becky Sisco and husband Wren of Bryan, TX, their two children, Kenzie and Kyle; Kandis Rushing of Leander, TX, her two children, Jaxon and Olivia; many friends who were like family; and his beloved dog, Harley.
