Virginia Schmidt

January 6, 1937 — June 9, 2022

Virginia "Ginger" Faye Schmidt was called home to Our Father on June 9, 2022.

Services will be 2:00 Monday, June 13, 2022 at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Ginger was born on January 6, 1937 in Frio, Texas to Arthur and Pearl Brock. She was the youngest daughter of eight children and was raised in Hereford, Texas. Ginger attended Hereford High School and graduated in 1955 as Valedictorian of her class.

Ginger met Leonard Schmidt in Hereford and they were married there at the Frio Baptist Church on July 10, 1955. Leonard preceded her in death on June 21, 2018.
Ginger and Leonard lived in several communities throughout the Panhandle of Texas with Leonard in the grain business and Ginger working as a bookkeeper while also raising their family of two sons, Brent and David and a daughter, Sheryl.

Ginger loved her God, her family, and the brightest colors in life! Pinks, purples, and anything that sparkled being at the top of the list. Her focus was her family. She would drive 100 miles to wallpaper her mother's house or stand in her kitchen and love everyone in the room by feeding them. She made beautiful wedding cakes and dresses, maternity clothes, work clothes, play clothes and more curtains than anyone could ever count. She did this as a lifelong Christian who loved, served, learned, taught, and helped those around her without hesitation. Her favorite days were those when a family member would come by for a sandwich and coke and those when her family, including extended family and friend, would gather and everyone would be treated to plenty of food, laughter, true Christian love, and an endless supply of Dr. Pepper!

Ginger was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard, Her parents, Arthur and Pearl Bock, her brother's Alton, Clyde and Joe Brock, her sisters, Mary Parker and Ida Goodman, her daughter-in-law Tamie Schmidt, and her great granddaughter Jordyn Ellis. She is survived by her older brother Kenneth Brock, her younger brother Richard Brock. Her son Brent Schmidt and his wife Cheryl, Sheryl Canales and her husband Lupe, her son David Schmidt and his wife Tammy, grandchildren, Amy Perez, Veronica Luna, Theresa Rogers, Brock Schmidt, William Schmidt, Jordan Smith, David (Gazarian) Schmidt, Jeremy Schmidt, Corey Schmidt, 13 great grandchildren and three great, great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, David (Gazarian) Schmidt, Jeremy Schmidt, Corey Schmidt, Brock Schmidt, William Schmidt, Jordan Smith and Dustin Rogers.
