The family highly valued education. After graduating from Hico High School in Central Texas, Virginia graduated from Texas Tech University where she majored in elementary education and participated on the fencing team. She set off to Borger to start her teaching career where she taught in East Ward Elementary and Borger Junior High School. She continues to keep in touch with the kids she taught and loved there. She spent many years volunteering in the church and in organizations such as Meals On Wheels, Canyon Cares, High Plains Historical Museum, a prison ministry, and Dreamland Cemetery Board. Virginia loved and cherished her church family and a multitude of dear friends and students. She leaves her legacy of love to all of these. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, daughter, and friend. She lived her life devoted to her faith. Everyday we will feel her presence and remember the lessons she taught us and the blessings she gave us. Proverbs 31:26-28, She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction is on her tongue.
