Vickie Sue Hardaway, 66, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026. Memorial services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at Harvest Connexion Church in Amarillo with Curtis House, pastor, officiating.
Vickie was born on November 21, 1959 in Shattuck, Oklahoma to Bill and Virginia (King) McCaslan. She was a graduate of Shattuck High School and moved to Canyon in 1978 when her daughter, Nicole, was born. She served as a customer service supervisor at Southwest Airlines for 16 years, earning a reputation for both her exceptional job performance and her kindness and compassion.
Vickie fell in love with a cowboy, Bill Hardaway, and they spent 37 years building a beautiful life together, 34 of those after they were married in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 3, 1991. She was an avid reader, her favorite series being “Left Behind,” which she read multiple times. She passed her passion for reading on to her daughter, Nicole. In the last few years, her love for watching football shifted to a new love...the LA Dodgers, in which she stayed remarkably up to date on facts and statistics. Her greatest joy, however, was her grandchildren. She adored being a Mimi and was known to say, “Being a grandparent is God’s gift for being a parent.” And she meant every word. Her three grandchildren were her pride, her joy, and the light that carried her through even the hardest days.
Vickie attended Harvest Connexion Church until her health prevented it.
Vickie is preceded in death by a daughter, Amber Tomlinson, her parents, and her in-laws, John and Emma Hardaway.
Survivors include her husband, Bill Hardaway of Canyon; her daughter, Nicole Johnston and husband, David of Canyon; her three grandchildren, McKayla, Lawson, and Keely Johnston; two brothers, Kenny McCasland and Peggy of Cushing, OK and Kyle McCaslan of Joplin, MO; and her sister-in-law, Ann Hardaway of Albuquerque, NM.
