Memorial services for Vera Garringer, of Dallas, formerly of Amarillo, will be on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 11:00 A.M. at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Mark Weeks officiating.
Vera was born on August 2, 1937, in Arkansas to Chester and Fannie (Dosey) Garringer and was raised in Amarillo, Texas. She later moved to Waxahachie and currently lived in Dallas. Her life was defined by her immense love for her boys and family, her perseverance, and her amazing ability to overcome challenges. Raising two boys, Vera worked hard and at times had multiple jobs to provide and take care of them well. She worked for Waxahachie ISD and absolutely loved the children in the schools there and was loved greatly by them in return. She was deeply committed to caring not only for her loved ones but also for others. Always selfless, Vera placed everyone's needs above her own and will be remembered by all those who knew and loved her for her kind and loving spirit.
Vera is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Floyd, Bill, Don, and Hervey, and five sisters, Dorothy, Velma, Marie, Joyce (Nadine), and Doris.
Survivors include her two sons, David Bowley and Glenn Bowley; her sister, Joy Schmedel; grandsons, Ayden Bowley and Bryce Bowley and wife, Brittany; two great grandchildren, Brett and Brody Bowley; and numerous cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be sent to Alzheimer's Association, https://www.alz.org.
