Velma Mye

Graveside service will be 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 17, 2006, at Dreamland Cemetery in Canyon with Rev. Charles Broadhurst, retired Baptist minister, officiating. Velma Lee Reynolds Mye was born April 13, 1907, near Tioga in Grayson County, Texas, to Jacob Howard Reynolds and Daisy Ann Scoggins Reynolds. She died at 6:00 A.M. Monday, May 15, 2006, in Glen Rose, Texas, at Glen Rose Medical Center Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Velma observed her 99th birthday slightly more than one month prior to her death. She was the third daughter born to Howard and Daisy Reynolds and the first to live past infancy. Born later to the couple were another daughter, Ruby Loraine Reynolds Lowes Hungate, and their only son, James Willis Reynolds. Velma and Fred Mye were married on August 5, 1933, in Clovis. N.M. The couple had one daughter who died at birth. They resided in several area towns prior to his death, and she later resided in Plainview, Canyon, and Glen Rose to be near a niece, Janie Baughman. Velma attended the Methodist Church. Mrs. Mye was preceded in death by her husband, parents, infant daughter, one sister and one brother. Survivors include her two nieces, Janie Baughman of Granbury, TX and Linda Lowes Hatchel of Woodway, TX; one nephew, Jim Reynolds of Tulia, TX, foster sister, Doris Koch of Missoula, Montana; and 4 great nieces and 2 great nephews.
