Tommy Platt

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at The Summit with Shane Nease, pastor of Living Water Christian Fellowship, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Tommy Joe Platt was born on August 12, 1942 in Canyon to Thomas and Nettie Prichard Platt. He attended Canyon schools and graduated from Canyon High School in 1961. During his school years, he worked for Bellah"s Grocery in Canyon. After graduation from high school, he worked for the Texas Fish and Game Commission. He married Patricia Tucker on June 3, 1968 in Amarillo. After serving in the U.S. Army, Tommy returned to Canyon and worked for the City of Canyon for ten years as a fireman. In 1978 he became a Deputy Sheriff working for the Randall County Sheriff"s Department and retired as a warrant"s officer from that department in 2005. Tommy was a member of The Summit and enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved fishing, camping, hunting, horses, and spending time outdoors. He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Daniel James Platt. The family would like to send a special thank you to Mary Ann Cantu, Andrea Douglas, and Tracy Dotson for their loving care. Survivors include his wife, Patricia, of the home; his son, Monty Platt and wife, RoseAnne, of Canyon; his daughter, Melissa Mosley and husband, Robert, of Amarillo; two sisters, Kathie Robinson and Shirley Clayton and husband, Ewing, both of Canyon; two grandsons, Thomas Joseph Platt, of Canyon and Logan Ryan Mosley, of Amarillo; Nephews and Nieces, Kip Clayton, Shandy Robinson and Tully Robinson, all of Canyon, Trent Robinson, of Ft. Worth, Rich Tucker, of Edmond, OK, and Krystal Dobbs, of Amarillo; and several great nephews and great nieces. The family suggests memorials be to Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79176 or a favorite charity.
