Tim Claytor, 69, of Canyon, passed away on Monday, April 28, 2025. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Kim Talley officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 6, 2025 at Brooks Chapel. Tim was born on June 23, 1955 in Amarillo to Vernon and Evelyn (McCarty) Claytor. He graduated from Alamo High School in 1973 and received his associate in engineering and electrical instrumentation certification from Amarillo College. He married Linda Frazier on November 23, 2001, and they moved to their home in Sunday Canyon in 2003. Tim worked for the City of Amarillo for 39 years, retiring as the Superintendent of the Osage Water Treatment Plant. He was dedicated to his work and was proud of the fact that they won safety awards each year. He also ran the water supply at Sunday Canyon for over 30 years and was a massage therapist after receiving his license from Austin School of Massage Therapy. Tim was a member of TWUA (Texas Water Utilities Association), Panhandle Water Association, and a longtime board member of Sunday Canyon. As an avid gun enthusiast, he was also a member of the NRA and the Texas Panhandle Pistol Club. He enjoyed target shooting and reloading his own ammunition. He was a Boy Scout leader and loved nature, geology, and backpacking. You can find his artistic flare in his rock landscaping around his home. He was a talented craftsman and builder and was a huge part of building their home in Sunday Canyon. His family will lovingly remember him as a devoted husband and loving father. Tim is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Jeffrey Cormack Claytor and Christopher Kendall Claytor. Survivors include his wife, Linda Claytor of Canyon; daughter, Jessica Susanne Maestas and husband, Elesaio of Amarillo; son, Charles Brady Claytor of Canyon; four stepchildren, Christi Michelle Steele of Amarillo, Steven Don Newman and wife, Hanna of Amarillo, Jenifer Moriah Bridges and husband, Lonnie of Levelland, and Jonathan Grant Newman, and wife, Ashley of Sundown; his adopted son, Josh Combs of Amarillo; 20 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; three siblings, Mike Kevin Claytor of Pie Town, NM, Vicki Claytor of Monte Vista, CO, and Tracy Brian Claytor of Monte Vista, CO; sister-in-law, Dinah Lewis of Canyon; and brother-in-law, Bill Frazier of Georgia. The family suggests memorials be made to United Way of Amarillo and Canyon, 2207 Line Ave., Amarillo, TX 79106.
