Thomas Sexton

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, July 16, 2009 at Happy"s Memorial Chapel with Rick Bloodworth, minister of Church of Christ in Happy, officiating. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery, Tulia, Texas. Thomas "Tommy" L. Sexton was born on August 15, 1912 at Tulia, Texas to William Lee and Vera Jewell Goss Sexton. He graduated from Tulia High School in 1930 and married Eula Pearl Starnes at Tulia on June 17, 1934. She preceded him in death in 1998. At the age of 25, he opened Sexton"s Grocery in Happy. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in 1943 and served three years before returning to Happy and reopening the grocery store. He owned and operated Sexton"s Grocery until 1987. He was a seventy year member of the Masonic Lodge. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Alta Mae Smith, in 2002. He is survived by several nieces and nephews.
