Theresa Darlene Hollabaugh, 83, of Canyon, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025. Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 24, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Canyon with Rev. Dr. Andy Mangum officiating. Private interment will be in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, January 23, 2025 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.
Darlene was born on October 9, 1941in Sherman, Texas to Ralph and Nancy Louise (Earl) Hankins. They moved to Borger in 1944 when her father took a job with Phillips Petroleum Company. She was baptized on March 9, 1952 in Borger by Samuel B. Dgan. She graduated from Borger High School in 1959 and from Frank Phillips College in 1961. She then moved to Canyon to attend West Texas State College and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelor of Education degree. She married Carl 'Holly' Lester Hollabaugh on July 14, 1962 and they were married for 45 years before he preceded her in death on August 16, 2007.
Darlene taught school in Amarillo and Canyon for 31 years, retiring in 2008. She was a longtime devoted member of First Baptist Church where she served on the Senior Adult Ministries Council, was a member of the Sanctuary Choir, and was involved in numerous activities. She also belonged to AAUW and was a charter member of the Heritage Women's Book Club.
Darlene is also preceded in death by her parents and a son, Carl Scott Hollabaugh, on March 26, 2024.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Lori Leigh Mangum and husband, Andy; three grandchildren, Madison Elizabeth Coleman and husband, Taylor and their children, Annaleigh and Elizabeth, Andrew Carl Mangum and wife, Lauryn and their son, Anderson, and Joshua Taylor Mangum; brother, Jerry Hankins and wife, Winna Mae; two nieces, Becky Crane and Emily Hensel and husband, T.C.; and several great nieces and nephews.
