Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at the First Baptist Church in Happy with Rev. Paul McQuerry, pastor, and Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor of United Methodist Church of Happy, officiating. Viewing will be in Happy"s Memorial Chapel and the family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at Happy"s Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery. Ted Seal was born on February 17, 1943 in Swisher County to J.D. and Pherne Chambers Seal. He attended school in Kress and worked for NCR for 26 years, retiring in 1994. He married Audrey Patton on September 15, 1964 and they moved to Happy in 1977. After retiring, he volunteered as a mentor and tutor at San Jacinto Elementary in Amarillo ISD and Happy Elementary for ten years. He was active in Happy Senior Citizens, serving as president in 2006 - 2007. He played in the band, Happy Tunes, with Jack Nunley and Lynn Tracy for 5 years, and they performed at numerous nursing homes and regularly at Feldman"s in Canyon. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Happy. Ted was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and three sisters. Survivors include his wife, Audrey Seal, of Happy; two daughters, D"Lee Watkins and Laurie Dewey and husband, Trey, all of Amarillo; a son, T. J. Seal and wife, Shilo, of Amarillo; three sisters, Jo Tripp, of Spring Branch, Texas, Arlene Newman, of Amarillo, and Ruthie Baker, of Houma, LA; six grandchildren, Torey Watkins, Tiffany Watkins, Mel Dewey, Monica Dewey, James Dewey, and A.J. Seal, all of Amarillo. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to First Baptist Church of Happy, PO Box 95, Happy, Texas 79042; Happy Senior Citizens, PO Box 247, Happy, Texas 79042; Baptist St. Anthony"s Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176; or University of Texas, MD Anderson Cancer Center, PO Box 4486, Houston, Texas 77210-4486.
