Tatum Schulte

November 19, 2007 — October 30, 2017

On October 30th, 2017, Tatum Lee Schulte WON her battle with osteosarcoma.  She gained her angel wings and now rests in the arms of Jesus.  Services will be 11:00 A.M. Friday, November 3 at Hillside Christian Church West Campus in Amarillo with Rev. Rick Enns, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Canyon and Rev. Mark Metzger, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Perryton, officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Canyon. Arrangements are by Brooks Funeral Directors.  She was born in Amarillo TX, on November 19th, 2007 to Travis and Shawna Schulte and her big sister Shaylin.  She lived in Perryton for the first 7 years of her life.  She attended Victory Christian Academy and 1st grade at Wright Elementary in Perryton.  She and her family moved to Canyon in 2015 where she attended Crestview Elementary; she was a 4th grader this year. She loved her schools and all her very special teachers especially those that taught her during her homebound.  Tatum fought osteosarcoma for almost 2 years and lost her lower left leg through the battle.  Tatum changed the world as she quickly became an icon with her strong spirit and #tatumtough attitude.  She loved the Lord dearly and was continually covered with His armor.  Her contagious smile that lit up a room and her unparalleled determination were God given gifts.  She loved playing with her American Girl Dolls and with her friends.  Her favorite sport was basketball, and she continued to play once she received her prosthetic leg. She also loved watching her daddy coach and his teams, she was their biggest cheerleader.  Tatum was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Canyon, and she attended the Awana's children ministry at the First Baptist Church in Canyon.  She was inspired by all of her wonderful doctors and nurses in Houston and in Amarillo.  She had set her sights on being a nurse at Texas Children's Hospital in Houston when she grew up.  She is preceded in death by her uncle Chase Schulte, grandfather Leon Schulte, very special great grandparents that she loved dearly, and by her very special principal, Shelly Willeford. Those left to cherish her memory are her parents, Travis and Shawna Schulte and her very special sissy, Shaylin of Canyon; grandparents, Greg and Karen Schulte of Nazareth, Bryan and Sherri Prater of Amarillo, and Tommy and Sherri Kenworthy of Perryton, great grandfather, Donald Wright of Dimmitt, great grandmother, Janice Burke of Pratt, KS;  aunts and uncles, Josh and Sharla Strickland of Canyon, Shayla Kenworthy and Josh King of Perryton, Kit and Kira Schulte of Nazareth; and her loving cousins Dayne and Cooper Schulte, Breklyn and Hunsley Strickland. She leaves behind many friends from Perryton, Canyon, and especially Crestview Elementary; including her special girlfriends Tai, Riley, and Dacie. Memorials may be made to the Tatum Tough Foundation at any First United Bank location.
