Sylvia Louise Pyland, passed away peacefully on October 4, 2020 in Amarillo, Texas. She was 84 years old and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 8, 2020 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon with Darren Dye, pastor of Freedom Fellowship, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Brooks Chapel.

Sylvia was born on December 3, 1935 in Abilene, Texas and was the daughter to Edd and Frances Pyland. She graduated from Paschal High School in Fort Worth and later earned a Bachelor's Degree from Texas Christian University.

Sylvia had a passion for travel and worked for the United Nations in the early 1960's at their New York headquarters and later in the Belgian Congo. In the 1970's, she worked for Congressman Jim Wright at his office in Washington DC as well as the Postal Service.

Sylvia moved to Happy in 2004 and worked at Canyon Cares for several years until her retirement. She loved the outdoors and volunteering at Palo Duro State Park.

Survivors include her son, Richard Beals and wife Kelly; granddaughter, Heather Peaden; grandson, Coleton Camden and five great grandchildren.
