Sue Strickland

February 10, 1955 — October 8, 2022

Sue Strickland, 67, of Amarillo, passed away on Saturday, October 8, 2022. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Crossroads Country Church with Rev. Bob Miller and nephew, Matt Bales, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon.

Sue was born on February 10, 1955 in Littlefield, Texas to Joe M. and Johanna (Hensel) Young. She attended Dimmitt High School and began her career in law enforcement in 1981. She worked for Castro County Sheriff's Dept., Deaf Smith County Sherriff's Dept., and Amarillo Police Dept. prior to going to Randall County Sheriff's Department. She retired as SGT with the Randall County Sheriff's Department in 2018 after 20 years of service. Sue was also a licensed massage therapist and enjoyed her talents as a cosmetologist.

Sue put her heart and soul into taking care of other people. She loved her family dearly and treasured spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Crossroads Country Church and loved being a resident at Country Estates, where she especially enjoyed visiting with her fellow residents.

Sue was preceded in death by her parents, four siblings, Martha Ann Young, Loren Young, Martin Young, and Erlene Harris, brother-in-law, Glen Harris, and special niece, Lovetta Harris.

Survivors include her daughter, Shandra Strickland of Canyon; her son, Jeremy Strickland and wife, Lisa of Amarillo; five grandchildren, Karson Cudd, Bretton Strickland, Annie Strickland, Kinsler Strickland, and Banner Strickland; four brothers, Jody Young, Ernest Young, Ronald Young, and Tony Young; her sister, Loretta Bales and husband, Earl; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great, great nieces and nephews that she also loved.

The family suggests memorials be to Panhandle Down Syndrome Guild, PO Box 20783, Amarillo, TX 79114 or to ADVO Companies, 5241 S. Washington St., Amarillo, TX 79110.
