Steven Tyrer, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the age of 66. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 24, 2025 at Brooks Chapel in Canyon. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery.
Steven was born on July 30, 1959, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin to Kathryn and Marvin Tyrer. Steven was raised in Beloit, Wisconsin. At the age of 18, Steven joined the United States Navy, serving on the USS Chandler. It was during this time, in February of 1983, that he met the love of his life, Patricia Jean Brazelton, whose car had run out of gas. The two were married on November 5, 1983 and together they raised four children: Shawn Michael Griffin (Vanessa), Bryan Joseph Griffin (Monique), Amy Jean Marie Griffin (Thad), and Daniel Steven Tyrer (Irma).
Steven devoted 25 years to the Veterans Administration, serving as an IT specialist at the VA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, until his retirement in 2018. His dedication to serving veterans brought him immense joy, as he loved how they referred to him as "young man."
Steven earned a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and a Master's Degree in Computer Science. His friendship with Bill W. began in 1982, lasting for 43 years attending Clean Air program in Amarillo.

He is survived by his wife, Pat, and his children, and grandchildren: Joshua, Nicholas, Jenna, Dez, Alexander, and Andrew as well as his mother, Kathleen Bartz, siblings: Michael (Wendy) Tyrer, David Tyrer, Deborah (Ron) Shaw, and Shelly (Tim) Malterer. He is also survived by his father-in-law, Daniel R. Brazelton, brother-in-law, Michael Jay Brazelton, and sister-in-law, Pamela Brazelton.
