Stephan Mac Taylor

March 27, 1982 — September 1, 2025

Stephan Mac Taylor, 43, of Tyler (formerly of Canyon), passed away on Monday, September 1, 2025. Memorial services will be Saturday, September 6th at Living Water Christian Fellowship Church in Canyon at 4 p.m. in the afternoon with David Bagwell, associate pastor, officiating. Stephan was born on March 27, 1982 in Hereford, Texas to Scotty Mac Taylor and Karen Fox Taylor. He was a 2000 graduate of Canyon High School and enlisted in the Marine Corps for four years. He served two tours in Iraq. During his time in the service, he received many awards and honors including the Rifle Expert Badge and the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal. He was promoted to Sergeant E-5 before being Honorably Discharged. He moved to Tyler, Texas and enrolled at the University of Texas at Tyler. There he received his Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science. Stephan went on to work as a computer software engineer for Ingersoll Rand in Colorado and in Tyler. Stephan was able to retire early to pursue his interests. Although he led a simple life, he spent his time how he wanted, fully enjoying all that he did. He was exceptionally creative and enjoyed the idea and experience of learning. He taught himself woodworking and was a talented furniture architect. Drawing the project's plans, to hand honing the wood, he relished the process. Stephan enjoyed refurbishing his vintage home. From taking apart and repairing his old windows to tearing rooms down to the studs and bringing them back to life. He spent a lot of time at Tyler State Park hiking and taking in nature and all things outdoors. He was an avid skier, hiker, cross country runner, and was passionate about yoga. He and his father played some good golf games together. Stephan appreciated well-crafted coffee. He loved deep conversations with those that he was close to. He took the time to read. At his home, he has an elaborate library of books, all of which he has read. Stephan always had the music. From playlists to CDs, he had what was right for the occasion. He loved working on his Jeep and calling his brother for mechanic advice. Summers were spent with his niece and nephew taking trips to the bookstore and playing Super Mario Brothers. He was always there to offer a helping hand to his mother. They took frequent walks together and had a mutual love for Paris. Stephan meant so much to many people and he will be deeply missed. Stephan was preceded in death by his grandparents, Fred and Peggie Fox and Don Taylor, great uncles Billy Mack Lytal and Joel Lytal and a cousin, Nathan Fox.
