Simon Elliott

Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 15 at the United Methodist Church in Happy with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor, officiating. Simon "Si" Grant Elliott was born November 28, 1918 in Glendale, Arizona to Stanton and Celeste Trowbridge Elliott. On December 30, 1939 he eloped with an Arizona beauty named, Willa, and moved to Texas. He remarked that he failed to get his father-in-law"s blessings. Si has lived in the Happy community ever since. He was involved in 72 wheat crops and never worked a day in his life. It was all fun! Si was a Charter member of the Happy Lion"s Club and also a member of the Masonic Lodge #1008, Order of the Eastern Star #562, Happy Days Association, and the United Methodist Church of Happy. Survivors include daughter, Willa Jane McManigal and husband, Jim, of Happy; two granddaughters, Christy Johnson and husband, Clint, of Happy, Jana Shaffner and husband, Layton, of Dallas; four great grandchildren, Bailey, Teagen, and Kyton Johnson, and Logan Shaffner; and special friend, Louese White, of Happy. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Willa, in 2004; and a daughter, Suzanne Bea Elliott, in 1957. The family suggests memorials to the Happy Days Association, Box 392, Happy, TX 79042.
