Shirley Byers

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, January 23, 2004 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. William Johnson, Jr., officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Mrs. Byers was born on January 12, 1942 in Gonzales, Texas to Otis Seay and Alma Lightard. She attended high school in Luling, Texas and later married Willie Byers in Lorenzo, Texas in 1963. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Hereford, TX where she served as an usher for many years. She moved to Canyon in 1974. She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Brenda Smith, in 2002. Survivors include her husband, Willie Byers, of the home; one daughter, Tammy Byers, of the home; two sons, Louis Byers and wife, Merry, of Baton Rouge, LA, and Ricky Byers and wife, Teressa, of Amarillo; one brother, Buck Thomas, of Phoenix, AZ; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
