Sherma Cox Flowers, 71, of Happy, passed away on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, March 31, 2025 at the First Baptist Church of Happy with John Mark Spruill and Donnie Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Happy Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, March 30, 2025 at Happy's Memorial Chapel.
Sherma was born on September 20, 1953 in Amarillo to Glen and Joy (McDowell) Cox. She was a 1972 graduate of Happy High School and attended Amarillo College where she studied Business Administration and Management. She married Roland Morgan Flowers at the First Baptist Church of Happy on January 7, 1972, and they were married for 52 years before he preceded her in death on November 17, 2024.
Sherma was a substitute teacher in Happy before becoming the secretary at Happy Elementary School for 12 years. She took a year away from education and worked for Stevens Insurance in Canyon and then spent the next 20 years as a teacher's assistant at Highland Elementary School in Tulia. She was also a certified rural mail carrier and worked part-time for the Happy U.S. Post Office. In addition, Sherma was a wonderful homemaker and bookkeeper for Flowers Farms and Flowers Livestock Transportation and loved being a beauty consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics.
Sherma had a deep passion for helping others and was dedicated to the operation of the Happy Community Clothing Closet for many years. This also led her to be a strong advocate of and serve on the Swisher County Child Welfare Board. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Happy where she taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. She was a proud supporter of the Happy Volunteer Fire Department and the Swisher County Home Demonstration Club.
Sherma was very creative and enjoyed writing, painting, and received several awards for her poetry collection, A Sugarfoot Expression. She also enjoyed antiquing and was lovingly known as 'a collector of all things.'
Sherma is also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Gladene Woodside-Swires and Lillie Hart.
Survivors include three sons, Kirk Flowers and wife, Penny and their boys, Ryder and Tackett, Gabe Flowers and wife, Christina and their boys, Landon and Kannon, and Roy Flowers and wife, Jennifer and their children, Bennett and Nora.
