Sharon Weaver, 56, of Canyon, died Wednesday, December 11, 2002 in Canyon. Services will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. John Githiga, pastor of St. George's Episcopal Church, officiating. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery. Sharon was born on May 12, 1946 in Ft. Knox, Kentucky to Corbitt and Mary Howitz Moore. She married Willie M. Weaver, a lifetime resident of Canyon, at St. George's Episcopal Church on Nov. 20, 1974. She has lived in the Canyon community since 1973. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing at the University of Colorado at Boulder in 1968 and attended Texas Women's University in the Pediatric Nurse Practitioner Program in 1973. She received her Master of Educator degree at West Texas A&M University in 1976 and was invited into the National Honor Society in Psychology Psi Chi Chapter. She also received her Master of Science in Nursing from West Texas A&M University in 1980 and was inducted into the National Honor Society of Nursing Sigma Theta Tau. She became board certified in 1993 as a Medical and Surgical Nurse and in 1994 became a board certified Diabetes Educator. She received the Northwest Texas Hospital Excellence in Nursing award selected by the nursing staff in consideration of clinical skills, interpersonal realtionships and professional integrity in 1994. Sharon had a special way of greeting everyone that lifted their spirits and made their day more pleasant. Survivors include her husband, Willie M. Weaver; one son, Scott Russell Weaver, of Denver, CO; one daughter, Allison Leigh McDaniel, of Dallas; her parents, Corbitt and Mary Moore, of Canyon; one sister, Linda Alvarado, of San Francisco, CA; one brother, Russell Ivan Moore, of El Paso; and a very special canine friend, Brandee C. Weaver The family suggests memorials be to the St. George's Episcopal Church Student Center, Crown of Texas Hospice, Scholarship Fund at West Texas A&M Nursing Department, Willie Weaver Scholarship Fund at Amarillo College, Lupas Foundation of America West Texas Chapter, or American Diabetes Association.
