Sadie Brandt

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, November 16, 2015 at St. Ann's Catholic Church with Father Robert A. Busch officiating. A Rosary will be held at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, November 15, 2015 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Umbarger, Texas. Sadie Lea Brandt was born May 19, 1934 in Wichita Falls, TX to Winifred and Amalia Higgins. She graduated from high school in 1951 in Umbarger, TX and married Jack Brandt on April 22, 1952 in Umbarger. Sadie graduated with a BS in Education from WTAMU in 1972 and earned her Masters in Education from WTAMU in 1976. She worked in Hereford ISD and Canyon ISD as a Diagnostician and retired in 1994. She attended St. Ann's Catholic Parish in Canyon and served on the Board for the WTAMU Catholic Student Center. She also served as president of the Board of the Amarillo Cancer Organization. Sadie was preceded in death by her mother, Amalia Higgins Bracht, her father, Winifred Higgins, step-father, Henry Bracht, and sister, Mary Higgins Hill. Survivors include her husband, Jack Brandt, of Canyon; four sons, Phillip Brandt, of Umbarger, Dwight Brandt and wife, Mary Ellen, of Canyon, Steve Brandt and wife, Kathy, of Seabrook, and Mark Brandt and wife, Sandi, of Amarillo; four grandchildren, Carey and husband Travis of Chandler, AZ, Matt and wife, Kate of Humble, Scott, of Houston, and Dallas, of Amarillo; three great grandchildren, Owen, of Chandler, AZ; Lauren and Jill, both of Humble; five siblings, Pauline Farmer, of Las Cruces, NM, Betty Grubaugh, of Phoenix, AZ, Edward Higgins and wife, Margaret, of Center Point, Marge Higgins Croninger and husband, Charlie, of Wichita, KS; and Linda Higgins Moore and husband, Dan, of Lubbock; and her lifelong friend, Neysa Friemel, of Groom. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to WTAMU Catholic Student Center, 2610 4th Ave, Canyon, TX 79015-4148 or St. Ann's Catholic Parish Building Fund, 605 38th St, Canyon, TX 79015.
