Ruth Moore

Ruth Elizabeth Moore, 91, of Canyon, died February 13, 2018.  She was born on November 4, 1926 in Chicago Illinois.  Ruth was the second child of three born to Earnest Moderow and Elizabeth Frey Moderow.  Ruth grew up during the great depression and survived polio as an infant.  During WWII she worked at Western Electric in Chicago.  She met her future husband Herman Moore while he was training at Great Lakes Naval Base during WWII.  At war's end they married in Chicago.  Ruth was a home maker, loving mother and grandmother.  She was a gifted seamstress and loved to crochet.  She loved all animals and birds.  Ruth always had a dog or cat or both and made them part of the family.  She returned to work after her children were old enough to start school, working at Amarillo Public Schools and Trinity Lutheran School in Amarillo.  She concluded her working career at West Texas A&M University's Texas Conservation Center where she studied conservation at Hampton Court, England and was a textiles conservator.  Ruth was a lifelong Lutheran and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Amarillo, St. Paul Lutheran Church, Canyon and Holy Cross Lutheran Church.  Ruth had a loving spirit, a playful nature and never met a challenge she could not overcome.  Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son Donald Moore, her older brother Earnest Moderow, and her younger brother Robert Moderow.  She was survived by her daughter Kathleen, son David, grandchildren Heather Moore Fairbanks and husband Andrew, Jonathan Moore, Joshua Webb, and Lauren Webb.     Funeral services will be held at 2:00p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Canyon, Texas followed by graveside services at St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery on Hwy 217 East of Canyon, Texas. Memorials may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2600 4th Ave., Canyon, Texas 79015.  Arrangements are under the direction of Brooks Funeral Directors, 1702 5th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015.
