Services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 17, 2013 at Lighthouse Church in Amarillo with Ronnie Woodward, pastor of Family Worship Center, and Bobby Bradshaw, pastor of Lighthouse Church, officiating. Graveside services will be at 4:00 P.M. on Friday at Dumas Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Lighthouse Church, 4020 Southwest 50th, Amarillo, Texas. Burial will be in Dumas Cemetery, Dumas, TX. Ruth Bain was born on August 8, 1926 in Bastrop, LA to Jesse Priestly and Bettie Jane Johns Dearman. She received her teacher certification and taught at Dumas High School for many years. She later taught at Caprock High School in Amarillo. She was a long time member of the First Baptist Church of Dumas where she played the organ, led music and taught Sunday School. Later she became a member of First Assembly of God Church in Amarillo where she taught Sunday School, and was most currently a member of Lighthouse Church in Amarillo where she also taught Sunday School. Ruth was a true Bible scholar and teacher, and her life's goal was to see people saved. She also enjoyed playing the piano, oil painting, knitting and crocheting. She had a very special bond with all of her grandchildren and will be fondly remembered as 'Mommy' to her grandchildren and 'Mommy Ruth' to her great grandchildren. Ruth was preceded in death by John T. 'Bill' Bain; her parents, two brothers, a daughter, Marilyn Kay Bain, and a great grandson, Rodney Medford. Survivors include her children, Bettie Medford and husband, Winston, of Mt. Pleasant, Bill Bain and wife, Linda, of Amarillo, and Peggy Bradshaw and husband, Bobby, of Amarillo; 8 grandchildren, Dale, Darryl, Kelly, Karla, Karrie, Tawnya, Tishya, and Bobby Dale; 22 great grandchildren; 4 great, great grandchildren; and her beloved Cowboy. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at Lighthouse Church, 4020 Southwest 50th, Amarillo, Texas. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to Lighthouse Church, PO Box 8587, Amarillo, TX 79114.
