Ruby Smith

Services will be at 2:00 P.M. Friday, December 28, 2012 at Brooks Chapel with Pastor Steve Olsen, First Baptist Church, officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 27, 2012 at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Memory Gardens Cemetery. Ruby Smith was born on April 16, 1922 in Amarillo, to Tony and Anna Simon. She attended grade school at Park School in Randall County. Upon finishing grade school she continued her education at St. Mary?s Academy in Amarillo until graduating in 1939. In 1940 Ruby Smith married Paul Sullivan. They were the parents of four children, Paulette, Sandra, Philipp, and David. Ruby loved her Lord, and prayed and read her bible daily. She loved to play the organ and was very good at oil painting. She married Charlie Smith on March 16, 1959 in Tucumcari, NM at the First Baptist Church. They lived in Perryton, TX until 1962, when they moved to Aurora, Colorado. In 1980 they moved to Canyon. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Smith, and daughter, Paulette, son, David Sullivan, and brother-in-law, John Dietz. Survivors include a daughter, Sandra Boyett and husband, David; son, Philipp Sullivan; sisters, Betty Dietz and Mary Barton; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. The family suggests memorials be to the American Cancer Society, 3915 Bell St. Amarillo, TX 79109, or to the Alzheimer Association, 2200 W. 7th Amarillo, TX 79106.
