Rosalie Markley Hawkins

A wonderful Mom, Grandma, Great Grandma, Great-Great Grandma, and friend. Rosalie Markley Hawkins, 93, of Ft. Worth, Texas, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday December 27, 2025 at Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the First Christian Church of Canyon with Rev. Paula Brooks officiating. Burial will follow at Castro Memorial Gardens in Dimmitt.

She was born on May 11, 1932, in Ringwood, Oklahoma. The daughter of the late Glenn and Myrtle LaPlant.

The virtues that characterized her life were selflessness, kindness, and gentleness. Above all she was a faithful and loving caregiver to her daughter LaVita as long as she lived. She was amazingly patient and persevering as a lifestyle and always gave encouragement to others. These characteristics were imparted to her children, grands, and great-grands!

She loved her Lord and Savior and quietly lived out her faith by example. She was a member of The First Christian Church of Canyon for many years, and until her death she attended River Oaks Christian Church of Ft. Worth.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Windell Odom Markley in 1977 and her second husband, Willis Hawkins in 2022. Her siblings also preceded her in death, Olan and Virgil LaPlant and Evelyn LaPlant Bradford. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, LaVita Rose Markley, and grandson Alex Markley.

Rosalie is survived by her children, Kathy Paetzold Kuhne of North East, PA (husband Gary), Lonnie Markley of San Diego, California, Sonia Dobbs of Ft. Worth, TX, and Karen Moore of Ft. Worth, TX (husband James). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jason Paetzold, Jill Reitz (Pete), Luke Paetzold, Abbie Kuhne, Jerod Markley, Jennifer Markley Tennihill (Chris), Justin Markley, Jonathan Markley, Casey Dobbs, Brandon Dobbs, Adam Dobbs, Madison Jimenez (Ivan). She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Joey Paetzold, Jacob Reitz, MyMy Reitz, Lily Reitz, Caleb Reitz, Andrick Markley, Marion Markley, Max Tennihill (Meghan), Julia Almosalam (Aman), Corbin Tennihill, Caden Tennihill, Lukas Markley, Rebekah Markley, Lex Dobbs, Nevaeh Dobbs, Lucius Trevino, and Lionel Jimenez. The cream on top… Great-great-grandchild Willow Tennihill and so many loving nieces and nephews!
