Ronald Ross Russell

April 3, 1950 — September 10, 2021

Ronald Russell, 71, of Canyon, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at his home. A celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, September 14, 2021 at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Canyon with Deacon Gabe Rivas as celebrant. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, September 13, 2021 at Brooks Chapel.

Ronald was born and raised in Canyon and attended West Texas State University where he served in ROTC as well as being an active member of the Kappa Alpha fraternity, eventually rising to president. He was a long-time member of First Christian Church of Canyon. Known by some as "Dauber" from his Little League days, Ron loved the outdoors and didn't mind getting dirty. His love of the outdoors continued into being a soccer coach and Scout leader with his sons. He served his country in the Army for two years as an Engineer before settling into a career in insurance. In his later years, he enjoyed supporting Meals-on-Wheels.

Ron is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geri (Brockman) Russell; three sons, Kyle Russell and wife, Charity of Canyon Lake, Tyson Russell of Canyon, and Matt Russell and wife, Lori of Paris; his brother, Steve Russell and wife, Karen of Riverside, CA; and four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Louise Russell of Canyon.
