Ron Mcdougall

Masonic services by Canyon City Masonic Lodge #730 will be 2:00 P.M. Thursday, May 25 at Brooks Chapel. Ron was born May 14, 1936 in Long Beach California. to Mathew and Lois Elder McDougall. He married Lynn Foster on May31, 1957. He graduated from Los Gatos High School in California in 1954 and joined the Air Force shortly after graduation. He served four years at Cannon Air Force base in Clovis where he met and married Lynn Foster. They moved to Long Beach California and raised two children Jeff and Chuck. He worked 20 years for the Long Beach Gas Department. In 1980 Ron and Lynn moved to Canyon to operate Yardboy Drilling and take care of her mother. He became a corrections officer at the Clements unit in Amarillo. He then purchased his own truck and drove for Plains Transportation. In 2010 he finally retired for good. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge since 1973. He was a recipient of the Hiram Award and Past Master of the Canyon City Lodge. He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, grandpa and great grandpa. He was a friend to many and he left an impression on everybody. He always had a story to tell for everyone, friend or stranger. Ron was preceded in death by his parents, his son Chuck, sister Emily and brothers Al, Don and Bud. He is survived by his wife Lynn; son Jeff and his wife Julie; daughter-in-law Judy McDougall; sisters-in-law Jean Freeman and Bernice Foster; brother-in-law Roy Foster, seven grandchildren; ten and a half great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and their siblings. The family suggests memorials be made to the Canyon City Masonic Lodge Scholarship Fund, PO Box 187, Canyon, TX 79015.
