Roger Johnson

Roger Neal Johnson, 71, of Canyon, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022.

Family directed memorial services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, July 8, 2022 at South Georgia Baptist Church, 5209 S. Georgia St., in Amarillo.

Roger was born December 22, 1950 to Evert and Bea Johnson in Groom, Texas in a small hospital. In Roger's early years, he lived in Clarendon. In 3rd grade the family moved out to a lease farm, until his 7th grade year, when they moved into Claude. He graduated in 1969 from Claude High School, where he was Mr. CHS his senior year.

Roger spent most of his life as a cowboy. He worked on the J.A. Ranch in the early 70's. He also worked at the Randall County Feed Yard. He later opened the Cowboy Stop and Feed Store in Claude and had a cattle dipping business.

Before his retirement he was a car salesman at Greg Lair Buick and GMC for 20 years.

Roger was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

He is survived by two daughters, Christi Olson and husband Clint of Canyon, and Jo Lee Junell and husband Brandon of Amarillo; five grandchildren, McKenna and Cade Olson, Emily, Coleman, and Mylie Junell; twin sister, Rhonda Stephenson and husband David of Canyon; sister-in-law, Linda Thompson and husband Tommy of Amarillo; and many nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Gracie's Project, PO Box 2512, Amarillo, TX 79105.
