Rodney Blake Collier

January 16, 1955 — October 10, 2025

Rodney Blake Collier, 70 years old, of Canyon, Texas, completed his 12 year journey with Alzheimer's on Friday, October 10, 2025 surrounded by loved ones and his extended family at The Cottages at Quail Creek in Amarillo. Rodney was born on January 16, 1955 amidst the flatlands of Pampa, Texas to Henry Otis and Verona Lou Collier. He married the love of his life, Peggy, on December 17, 1982 in Canyon, Texas and together they shared 43 years of love, laughter, and partnership. Throughout his life, Rodney was known as a gentle giant. His stature was often the first impression that people had of him until they got to know him. He loved and cherished his family. He would do what he was able to help those in need whether they were part of his church community or simply a stranger on the street. Nearly 30 years of his life was dedicated to working with his hands as a rental property maintenance man for his and his wife Peggy's property management company. Outside of work, he found joy in hunting and fishing with his friends and family. He was a voracious reader and absorbed everything he read. Later in his life, he took joy in being a grandfather to his grandkids. Rodney, like St. Paul, was often all things to all people. He never met a person whom he could not befriend whether he shared the same opinions or lifestyle with them or not. He always cared for and loved his wife and children and grandchildren. His eyes always shined so brightly and emitted a joy that transcended whatever mood he or those around him found themselves in. Perhaps his mighty encompassing hugs will be missed the most. Rodney is survived by his wife, Peggy, whose love has never wavered. He is also survived by his daughter Christy Bertolino and her children Eli and Everly, his son Blake and his wife Melissa and their sons Seamus and Eoin, his brother Mark Collier–his wife Christine–and his children Meghan Zoch–and her husband Daniel–and Beth Mooney–and her husband Colton and son Bennett –as well as his aunt Dolores Carruth and cousins Graham and Roger Carruth. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Henry and Verona Collier, and his uncle Julian Burr Carruth. A celebration of Rodney's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Living Water Christian Fellowship - 10100 W. Hwy 60, Canyon, TX 79015. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cody Owens Memorial Foundation and their local respite care program in Rodney's name at www.codyowensfoundation.org.
