Robert Pearson

Memorial services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, January 17 at the First United Methodist Church of Canyon with Rev. John McClean, pastor, officiating. Robert Pearson was born June 21, 1921 in Marshall County, South Dakota to Carl and Tillie Rapp Pearson. He was a Veteran of the US Army Air Force serving during WWII, and he was also a POW. He was a life member of the DAV, VFW, and Ex POW, and an active member of the American Legion. Robert received a bachelor"s degree from Northern University in Aberdeen, South Dakota, a master"s degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, South Dakota, and he did graduate work at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Robert was a teacher, principal, school counselor, coach, and an educator for the Britton, South Dakota School System. He married Waldeen Thomson at the JA Hill Chapel in Canyon on May 8, 1999. He was a fan of WT and Canyon High School basketball programs. Robert loved the outdoors, hunting, fishing, and golfing. He was a conservationist and also loved planting trees. He was preceded in death by a son. Survivors include his wife, Waldeen; three children and their spouses; three step children and their spouses; and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
