Robert (Bob) Loe
June 1, 1930 — March 14, 2023
Robert (Bob) Loe, 92, passed away on March 14, 2023. Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, March 17, 2023 at University Church of Christ with Bret Moore, officiating. Burial will follow at Dreamland Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 16 from 5:30 to 6:30 P.M. at Brooks Chapel.
Bob was born to Paul and Pearl (Murphey) Loe on June 1, 1930 in Spur, Texas. He attended school in Spur and Farwell, Texas. He graduated Farwell High with the class of 1947. Bob went on to attend Texas Tech University.
Bob's sister, Nina, introduced him to the love of his life, Winnell Fitzgerald. He and Winnell married on December 18, 1949; allowing them to celebrate 73 years together. They raised their two sons, Mike and Travis, and one daughter, Lisa, while farming/ranching in Yoakum County, Texas. Bob also served as City Manager of Plains, TX and tax assessor/collector for Denver City, TX public schools. He retired as a commercial real estate appraiser in Canyon and Amarillo, TX.
Bob served his God and his Savior Jesus as Bible student, teacher, and shepherd of the Lord's church meeting in Denver City and Canyon, TX. This service held great priority in his life.
His love of animals began early in life. He would reminisce about riding his horse Sadie to the creek and to the neighbors to practice roping as a child. Many hours were spent with Mike and Travis raising and preparing animals for stock shows. After the farm and animals were sold, fishing and RVing became favorite pastimes.
Bob, known as GranGran, loved when he could spend time with his 7 granddaughters and his 11 1/3 great grands. Visits to GranGran and Murz's were extra special times for all.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Pearl, his son Mike, and twin granddaughters, Karon and Kimberly. He is survived by his wife, Winnell, son, Travis and wife Deanna, daughter, Lisa and husband Bret, daughter-in-law, Susan, 7 granddaughters and their families including 11 1/3 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to High Plains Children's Home, PO Box 7448, Amarillo, TX 79114 or to New Mexico Christian Children's Home, www.nmcch.org.
