Services will be at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the United Methodist Church of Happy with Rev. Tom Stribling, pastor, officiating. Mr. Hargrave will be available for viewing at Happy's Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in Happy Cemetery, Happy, Texas. Robert S. 'Grandad' Hargrave was born on September 28, 1926 in Phoenix, Arizona to Steen and Caroline Bernice Winsor Hargrave and graduated from North Phoenix High School. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during World War II in the 82nd Air Borne. He married Patricia Lou Wheat in Phoenix on August 27, 1950 and he graduated from Arizona State University in 1953 with a B.S. in Agriculture. While in Phoenix, AZ he owned and operated Hargrave Painting Service with his brothers and continued to use his artistic talents as a hobby throughout his life. Bob then moved his family to Happy in 1967 where he farmed, retiring after 26 years. He was also a truck driver for several years. He was a member of Masonic Lodge #1008 in Happy, Arizona Lodge #2, Order of the Eastern Star #562 in Happy, and the United Methodist Church of Happy. Bob enjoyed serving as a City Councilman and numerous other leadership roles in his church and community. He was a loving husband, father, grandad, and friend and will be greatly missed. He loved sharing his 'Bob Crosses' that he carved with many fellow Christians. Bob will be remembered for sharing the love of Christ with all who crossed his path. He is survived by his wife, Pat, of the home; a son, Mark Hargrave and wife, Karen, of Happy; a daughter, Tricia Odom and husband, Kyle, of Happy; four grandchildren, Beau Hargrave and wife, Gloria, of Borger, Tyler Hargrave, of Happy, and Mackenzie and Craig Odom, both of Happy; one great granddaughter, Lilian Hargrave, of Borger; two brothers, Don Hargrave and wife, Nilus, and Art Hargrave and wife, Iwana, both of Tonto Basin, Arizona; several nieces and nephews; and a very special group of cousins and many angels. The family suggests memorials be to the United Methodist Church of Happy, PO Box 56, Happy, Texas 79042; Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, PO Box 950, Amarillo, Texas 79176; or Happy Fire Department, PO Box 216, Happy, Texas 79042.
