Robert "Ace" Goodman

April 1, 1967 — February 26, 2026

Happy

Robert “Ace” Goodman, 58, of Happy, Texas, passed from this life suddenly on February 26, 2026, following a heart attack. He was born on April 1, 1967, in Lafayette, Indiana, to Raymond and Angelina Watson Goodman. He now rests in the hands of Jesus. Memorial services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Happy with Father Alvin Tshuma as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at Happy Cemetery. The family will be holding a Rosary, Visitation & time of storytelling on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at 4:00 P.M. at the Senior Citizens Center in Happy.

Ace was many things to many people — a beloved son, brother, friend, husband, dad, and proud “Pappy.” Those who knew him knew that friendship with Ace meant laughter, loyalty, and more than a few good stories to tell.

He is survived by his former wife and forever friend, Genny Goodman; his children, Jeffrey Goodman, Gabrielle Martinez, Lexi Martinez, and Olivia Goodman; his four cherished grandchildren, Zafari, Peyton, Presleigh, and Nova; his parents, Raymond and Angelina Goodman; his sister, Lisa (Kirk) Watson; his brothers, Dallas (Denise) Goodman and Wyatt (Lisa Ann) Goodman; and a multitude of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

In 1977, Ace’s family moved to Abernathy, Texas, where he attended school beginning in the fourth grade.

He married the love of his life, Genny Daugherty, in January 2005.

A mechanic by trade, Ace had a remarkable gift for fixing things. If it had a motor or wheels, he could make it run. His passion began at the young age of three, when he famously took apart his grandmother’s sewing machine — a moment that revealed a lifelong curiosity and talent. That curiosity grew into a love for fast cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, and anything else powered by an engine. In his early working years, he also drove big rigs.

It would be impossible to know how many people he helped along the side of the road. He was truly a giving person who was always willing to help anyone who needed it.

Ace loved old rock and roll, country music, his loyal dogs Red and Roxy, and above all, spending time with family and friends. He believed in having fun, living fully, and making memories along the way.

He will be missed and forever remembered by all who had the blessing of knowing him.

If you wish to donate to his memory the family suggests the Holy Name of Jesus Catholic Church in Happy, the American Heart Association or the charity of your choice.
