A memorial service will be held at Brooks Funeral chapel at 2:00 pm on Saturday March 8th, 2014 with Rev. John Abbott officiating. Richard John Yanz, 79, died March 3rd after a 9 month battle with cancer. Although a southwesterner for his later years, he was a midwesterner in his heart. He married Kirk Yanz and with her raised four daughters, Laura, Amy, Kristin and Gretchen. He coached and practiced with them and was their biggest fan. Recently one of his joys was attending his grandchildren's activities. Dick was the 6th of 7 children. All preceded him in death except his brother, Tom. Survivors include four daughters, Laura, Amy, Kristin, and Gretchen; ten grandchildren: Adam, Alex, Doris, Stephanie, Scott, Sarah, Cole, Megan, Ryan and Tyler; three great grandchildren: Brooks, Brian and Ashlyn; his sons-in law: James, Ward and Stuart and newest addition to the family, Kevin; and his brother, Tom, and his wife Carna, of Michigan. He also had many nieces and nephews in the Midwest with a special spot for ""Susie Q"" of Wisconsin.
