Memorial services will be at 2:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Billy D. Nickell, pastor of First Family Church of Amarillo, and Eddie Soto officiating. Richard L. Weiss was born on February 13, 1942 in Shamrock to George and Mildred Cowan Weiss. He moved to Tulia at an early age and was a custom harvester where he founded U.S. Custom Harvesters, Inc. He then moved to Canyon where he owned and operated Richard Weiss Trucking. He married Kay Owen on February 9, 1991 in Las Vegas. Richard loved his home, his family, and his friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Sandra, and a grandson, Jeff Weiss. Survivors include his wife, Kay Weiss, of the home; two sons, Brad Weiss and wife, Jessica, and Clay Weiss and wife, JeanAnn, all of Amarillo; a stepson, Travis Mooney and wife, Sandy, of Cameron, NC; five grandchildren; one great grandchild; and a sister, Sharon Ono, of Las Vegas, NV. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be to the patients of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, in care of Don and Sybil Harrington Cancer Foundation, 1600 Wallace Blvd., Amarillo, TX 79106.
