Reathal Hawthorne

Services will be at 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, April 5, 2008 at Brooks Chapel with Rev. Ken Varner, pastor of Westway Baptist Church of Hereford, officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 4, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Brooks Chapel. Burial will be in Dreamland Cemetery Reathal Hawthorne was born on March 11, 1916 at Petty, Texas to Samuel and Cory Lee Lorke Gray. She graduated from Roxton High School and later m arried Percy L. Hawthorne at Roxton on February 26, 1936. They moved to Canyon in 1950, and he preceded her in death in 1991. She worked for West Texas State College in the cafeteria for twelve years, then at the Village Drive-in for seventeen years. After retiring, she did ironing for people. She was a member of the Second Avenue Church of Christ. Survivors include one son, Ronnie Hawthorne, of Canyon; two daughters, Marie Raymond, of Plunkville, OK, and Dolorse Rollins, of Amarillo; a sister, Billie McDowell, of Hereford; seven grandchildren, and eleven great grandchildren.
